Configuration Diff reports have been enhanced to display more lines along with diff lines to better understand the "context" of the configuration change.
Detailed DeviceConfiguration and SecurityAudit report is now provided for each device.

Migration Pack for SDP 7.0 Released

The long awaited upgrade pack for migration to ServiceDesk Plus 7.0 has been released.

1. Before you download It is highly recommended that you install the migration pack in a test bed before you apply the same to the production environment. This is done mainly to avoid data loss and also you can schedule the downtime of your production server based on the results from the test bed. We also recommend that you refer to the best practices to be followed before setting up your test bed. Refer to http://forums.adventnet.com/viewtopic.php?t=311031 2. Check your current build version You can apply the migration pack if you are using a build version 6012 and above. In order to migrate to the latest version, refer to http://www.servicedeskplus.com/service-packs.html
3. Download Download the migration pack from: http://bonitas.adventnet.com/servicedesk/29Jan2008/AdventNet_ManageEngine_ServiceDesk_Plus_7_0_0_SP-7000_01_0.ppm
4. Installation Open a command prompt and ensure that the Height of the Screen Buffer size is changed to 9999 cmd> cd [ServiceDesk-Home]\bin cmd> UpdateManager.bat 2>7000.txt Follow the onscreen instructions to apply the migration pack. 5. Hotfix Once you have applied the migration pack, we recommend to apply the 7009 hotfix to migrate to the latest version. As there are more data model changes, Custom generated reports will be deleted and you need to re-create them.
Personalized changes in the Inventory section ( like Sort on Workstations or any other column, number of columns to be displayed, number of record counts to be displayed etc... ) will be lost and you have to recreate these changes.
In SDP 6.0, Workstations and Assets are separate entities. In SDP 7.0, workstations are also Assets. Hence we have moved the Assets of product type Desktop, Laptop, Desktops, Laptops into workstations. If an asset of type workstation is stored in any other product type (or in a different language), it will not be merged as a workstation. Hence we recommend to reset the 'Product Type' into Desktops or Laptops to get them moved into workstations.
We have added a new Status called 'Resolved' under Completed type. If there already exists a status name 'Resolved', then the property of the existing 'Resolved' status will be set as (Pending = false and Stop Timer = true). This needs to be noted.

8. Points to be noted:

During our earlier migration issues analysis, we noticed quite a good number of users fail to backup data before migration, which causes trouble when there is any issue during migration. Hence for SDP 6.x to 7.0 migration, upgrade patch takes a mandatory trimmed backup (data without attachments). Data backup could take time depending on data in the application. Hence, do not kill the upgrade process assuming the upgrade is not happening.
In Admin -> Notification Rules, the new notification 'Email User when a Request is Resolved' will be enabled by default during migration. This will send a notification to the users when a request is placed in 'Resolved' status. Please uncheck and save if notification need not to be sent for 'Resolved' status.

Bug Fixes (on build 4300)

When a new system was scanned, a previously scanned system's entry was replaced with the new system, resulting in duplicate entry. This has been fixed.
The PQ Agent Virtual Memory (VM) leak, found in the pqagentctrl.exe process, has been fixed.
PatchQuest Agent silent installation was not working as the install.iss file created was improper and did not have all the configured parameters. This has now been fixed.
Patch deployment failure when PQ Agent was "silent installed" in HTTPS mode. The silent installation created an unwanted Proxy entry in registry causing patch deployment failure. This is resolved.
Scan Count Graph link from Home tab was pointing to incorrect result. This has been corrected.
There was an error on screen when accessing Settings tab --> Agent Administration link from the left panel. This has been resolved.
Clicking on Bulletin ID link in Patch Details view was throwing an error on screen. This is fixed now.
There were some Timeout errors during bulk patch deployment. This has been addressed.
The missing patches count link from Vulnerability Report was pointing to 'Security Updates' tab in Scan Result, resulting in displaying incorrect data. This is now fixed and points to 'All Update' tab in Scan Result view.
System Health Status (Highly Vulnerable, Moderately Vulnerable & Healthy) was calculated based on both Security and Non-Security updates count. Now this will now be calculated only based on Security updates count, as vulnerability is determined by missing Security updates only.

Netflow Analyzer V6.1 With QoS Monitoring

Netflow Analyzer now supports QoS Monitoring by adding DSCP mapping to its latest version V6.1.

In addition, the user can create their own DSCP Groups to monitor class-based traffic patterns on per DSCP or per DSCP Group basis. With this release, NetFlow Analyzer now enters the arena of QoS Monitoring -- the most crucial aspect of any network performance enhancement activity. QoS helps enterprises effectively allocate their existing bandwidth for high productivity applications. QoS defines the minimum level of service quality guaranteed for an application and is typically assigned for business critical applications to safeguard them against any kind of bandwidth crunch. An application with a higher QoS gets priority in receiving bandwidth allocation over one with a lower QoS value. DSCP mapping is the latest offering that is much more powerful than the earlier TOS (Type of Service). DSCP helps in verifying lapse in the enforcement of QoS policy like, were the traffic flows, whether packets are correctly labeled and marked as belonging to a particular QoS setting. Bug Fixes (on build 4300)

When a new system was scanned, a previously scanned system's entry was replaced with the new system, resulting in duplicate entry. This has been fixed.
The PQ Agent Virtual Memory (VM) leak, found in the pqagentctrl.exe process, has been fixed.
PatchQuest Agent silent installation was not working as the install.iss file created was improper and did not have all the configured parameters. This has now been fixed.
Patch deployment failure when PQ Agent was "silent installed" in HTTPS mode. The silent installation created an unwanted Proxy entry in registry causing patch deployment failure. This is resolved.
Scan Count Graph link from Home tab was pointing to incorrect result. This has been corrected.
There was an error on screen when accessing Settings tab --> Agent Administration link from the left panel. This has been resolved.
Clicking on Bulletin ID link in Patch Details view was throwing an error on screen. This is fixed now.
There were some Timeout errors during bulk patch deployment. This has been addressed.
The missing patches count link from Vulnerability Report was pointing to 'Security Updates' tab in Scan Result, resulting in displaying incorrect data. This is now fixed and points to 'All Update' tab in Scan Result view.
System Health Status (Highly Vulnerable, Moderately Vulnerable & Healthy) was calculated based on both Security and Non-Security updates count. Now this will now be calculated only based on Security updates count, as vulnerability is determined by missing Security updates only.

Bug Fixes

Domain Name was case sensitive during AD Authentication. This has been addressed.
While checking for web server vulnerabilities, whenever a web server responded with error code:200, ScanFi reported it as a CGI vulnerability each time even for non-existent files. This has been resolved.

Version 6 of ServiceDesk Plus has arrived! Lots of new features and innovative ways to streamline your IT service delivery. ServiceDesk Plus is web-based Help Desk and Asset Management Software. It offers an integrated package with Request management (Trouble Ticketing), Asset Tracking, Purchasing, Contract Management, Self-Service Portal, and Knowledge Base at an affordable price. Released on 1st March 2007, Version 6 now comes with an add-on Robo Technician which automatically resets passwords and manages redundant password reset requests. Earlier, when running DeviceExpert in non-English OS, ping for device would fail during discovery, resulting in disruption of discovery process. Now, with Nmap-based discovery, all such issues have been addressed. 2. Stopping Discovery: Provision to stop device discovery, at any point of time during the discovery process. 3. DNS Name in Discovery status: While viewing the discovery status of specific devices, the DNS Name of the device is also displayed. 4. Discovery support for most of the models: Most of the device models that are supported by DeviceExpert could now be discovered and added to the inventory.
